A great white wine from Languedoc, very rare and highly coveted! An elegant, racy and mineral white wine. Confidential production. A wonderful wine that never ceases to surprise with its grandiose aromatic expression and exceptional freshness. The vines, around twenty years old, are located in Puéchabon, on a clay-limestone hillside. After harvesting by hand, Marsanne and Roussanne are pressed and vinified together. Direct pressing, cold settling. Vinification using indigenous yeasts. Fermentation in barrels and demi-muids. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 24 months, barrels having already been used. The different barrels are blended 4 to 6 months before bottling, in an old cellar. This wine will open nicely over time.
Domaine de Montcalmes is one of the most prominent estates in the Languedoc. Since his first vintage in 1999, Frédéric Pourtalié has succeeded in placing his estate among the best. Compared to the most talented winemakers in his region, this demanding winemaker trained at the Grange des Pères, Alain Graillot and Oratoire Saint Martin estates. Located in Aniane and Puéchabon, the Domaine de Montcalmes vineyard is established on a limestone terroir where Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Roussane, Marsanne and Chardonnay flourish.
The wines of Domaine de Montcalmes impress with their balance and elegance. Combining power and finesse, the red wines of the estate can be aged for ten years. The very rare white wines are superb.
