WINERY: Mas Lau
GRAPE: Oeillade
REGION: IGP Cevènes, Languedoc Roussillon
Ex-sommelier turned winemaker Laurent started the domaine 2008 with a single hectare. Originally from Nimes, his family used to be paysan farmers. His grandfather was a goat farmer and his father grew fruit.
VINEYARD
From 100-year-old vines of the indigenous Oeillade grape from the Languedoc region in France. Biodynamically farmed. Vines are in a mix of old vineyards that have been converted to organics with a lot of them being re-trained to the traditional goblet method. 11ha of vineyards surrounded by the rich garrigue.
WINEMAKING
Vinification in whole bunches, without input and without sulphite. Aging for 7 months in steel vats and aging in bottle. Very minimal use of sulphur (only in white).
The Œillade is a cousin of the cinsault, vinified by Laurent Bagnol. It is a grape variety that will seduce you with its exotic aromas. A bright, rustic and wild wine, full of life.
Natural winemaking. Biodynamic farming. Vegan friendly.
