Hugues Laborde took over Haut-Meyreau in 2018 and started by digging twenty-seven soil pits across the property, mapping every parcel so he'd know exactly which ground suited which grape, right down to pulling vines where they didn't belong. L'Éclat Rouge is one result of that work: Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon planted on the château's best limestone, aged over a year in new oak into something dense and structured, black cherry and cocoa with a savory edge. It's the kind of Bordeaux you decant an hour ahead and pour with something off the grill.
