Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve is a biodynamic winery located in Cahors, a wine region in southwest France known for its robust and tannic red wines made from the Malbec grape variety. The winery was founded in 1999 by Catherine Maisonneuve and Mathieu Cosse, who have been dedicated to producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines using traditional winemaking techniques.

One of their flagship wines is the Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve Les Laquets 2018, an AOC Cahors red wine made from 100% Malbec grapes. The grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils with a south-facing exposure, allowing for optimal ripening and flavor development. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a rigorous selection process before being fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months before being bottled without fining or filtration.

On the nose, the Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve Les Laquets 2018 offers aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and violet, with hints of leather and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with flavors of dark fruit, spice, and a touch of minerality. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing structure and balance to the wine, and the finish is long and complex.

Overall, the Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve Les Laquets 2018 is a superb example of Cahors Malbec, showcasing the rich and complex flavors that this region is known for. With its commitment to biodynamic farming and traditional winemaking techniques, Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve is a winery that is dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality and character.
